It is our desire to "missionize" The Lindsay Foundation. That is to say that we  need to put the emphasis on what our mission is…

Our Mission Statement says:

The Lindsay Foundation is a 501-C-3 non-profit organization whose

primary goal is to assist families with the resources necessary to provide

medical treatment, therapies, and rehabilitative equipment in order to

improve the quality of life for their special-needs children.

Lindsay was a special needs child. She passed away in 1999. Her Mom, Laurie McMillan-Henry, so many times had to fight bureaucracies and insurance companies in order to obtain what she needed for Lindsay. She established The Lindsay Foundation in 1999 in the hopes that she could assist other families fighting those same battles. Her statement was that "having a special needs child is not a burden, providing those needs is".

The negatives…. We are not an insurance company and we can’t help everyone. We do not deal with mental or emotional needs. We do not deal with children aged 18 or older. We do not cover pre-existing debt. We pay directly to the provider of benefits and do not pay monies directly to the families.

Families with special-needs children face traumatic medical expenses whether due to birth defect or catastrophic illness or accident. They often see themselves having to choose which need they can meet due to financial restrictions. These are the families that we are here for.

Once information is confirmed, every application for assistance is presented to our Board of Directors for review.

After being established in 1999, we assisted our first family in July 2000. We have provided, among other things, medical supplies not covered by insurance, aquatic therapy, horse riding therapy, a special power supply for a communication device, a Chat PC, a custom fitted power wheelchair, a number of wheel-chair lifts and, in one instance, we were able to pay the reduced surgical fees to a pediatric cardiologist. Recently, in one week, we received 2 urgent requests for assistance and were able to approve those families.  Sometimes we help families to locate resources that we can’t provide. Sometimes we just provide a broad shoulder.

The Lindsay Foundation is funded solely by events and donations and all work within the Foundation is done on a voluntary basis.

In 2004, we established our Teddy Bear Sponsorships.

Gifts Unlimited in Porter TX was our first Silver Teddy Bear.

GSE Lining Technology has been a supporter since the inception of our Foundation. GSE Installation Division and GSE Dealer Network registered as a Silver Teddy Bear for the 2004 golf tournament.  GSE DEALER NETWORK  participated as a Silver Teddy Bear for the 2005, 2006 & 2007 golf tournament.  In 2007, GSE GeoSport Surfaces joined the group as a Silver Teddy Bear.

DISCOUNT TIRE participated a Silver Teddy Bear in 2004 and 2005.

WAL-MART PORTER SUPERSTORE was a Silver Teddy Bear for the first time at the 2005 golf tournament.

Our good friends and also supporters since our inception, Al & Sheryl Jamail, registered as a Silver Teddy Bear "IN MEMORY OF JARED JAMAIL" at the 2005, 2006 & 2007 golf tournament.

L.O.S. Rail Riders of Houston TX, our only Silver Teddy Bear for our "Ride for the Bear" motorcycle ride has participated in 2006 and 2007.

Colorado Lining International has participated as a Silver Teddy Bear for our 2006 & 2007 charity golf tournament.

The Foundation sponsors 2 events each year. We also make ourselves available to be a presence at any event that another individual or corporation holds for our benefit.

Our Spring event, "Ride for the Bear ", is a one-day motorcycle ride that averages 160 miles.  Our first ride was in 2004 and has become a popular venue in the area.

At the same time we are working on the above ride, we are busy collecting pledges for "Birdies for Charity".  This endeavor is through the Houston Golf Association and is based on the number of birdies shot during the Shell Houston Open.  We first participated in 2005 and we appreciate the Houston Golf Association and what they have done with this program.

Our Fall event is our annual charity golf tournament and auction.  Our first tournament was in 2000 at the Atascocita Country Club in Humble.  In 2004, we moved to Tour 18 in Humble.  This tournament continues to be a very popular sporting event and fundraiser.

Any information we might provide dealing with raising money is fruitless without finding the kids that we can spend that money on. With your help we can get the name "The Lindsay Foundation" out to the public. And, most importantly, to get the name out to the medical community and the educational community. They deal with these kids on a daily basis. We know that families are out there that need assistance.  We're here to help.
